AREAS OF PRACTICE
During the course of his practice Mr. Absalom has emphasized
the representation of Labor Unions in all aspects of labor
law as well as collective bargaining negotiations with Employers.
He has represented Unions in a wide range of industries
and crafts, including health care, trucking, public transit,
cannery and food processing, solid waste collection, warehousing,
and public employment.
Mr. Absalom has extensive labor arbitration and mediation
experience, and has handled numerous cases before the National
Labor Relations Board and other administrative agencies.
He has served as lead counsel for Unions in jury and
court trials, litigating cases in both state and federal
courts at the trial and appellate levels, including in the
Supreme Court of the United States. Drawing on his
background in labor economics and industrial relations as
well as his experience as a Union official, Mr. Absalom
frequently represents Unions in collective bargaining
and interest arbitrations. He also advises Unions
on internal governance and union elections. Over his
career Mr. Absalom has tried in excess of 400 arbitration
cases as well as numerous cases before the NLRB, and has
led union bargaining committees in more than 100 sets
of collective bargaining negotiations, guiding them through
strikes when necessary.
